What tools you need to install wood flooring to get the job done easierThe hardwood floor tools we list below are used by professionals and home repair handyman. You don't necessarily need to buy all of them. Renting your specialty flooring tool would be in most cases a lot cheaper. This list is by no means all the tools you may or may not need. A lot of the times it depends on the type of job you are doing and if you are installing over a old floor or on new plywood. The point I am making is that, you need a lot of different kinds of flooring tools. It can add a huge cost to the job if you don't own them already. Calking gun for edges and when glue is used. Drill and assorted drill bits - for pre-drilling when using screws. Floor sander and a small hand held sander - for use before refinishing and to get out scratches. Power miter saw - helps for fast smooth straight cuts and angles ( very important). Saber saw for tight corners and spots. Straightedge and measuring tape - tip - always measure twice. Chalk line for running a straight line in a long distance. Flooring nailer - and a pneumatic nail gun - these can be rented - you must have it for a good tight finish and securing boards down. They will help make the job go much faster. Knee pads will save your knees from getting too sore. Pry bars for getting up the old flooring or for mistakes. Hammer and nail sets for finishing and a counter sink bit. Wood flooring adhesive - how much will depend on how big the job is. Assorted tools you may need: back to home flooring reviews for choosing which type of floor to install. |
