Age appropriate Childrens rugs for their bedroom

Girls, children under 12 and older children, normally think of an area rug as an accent for their room. Most activities are done sitting on the bed. About the age 9 girls start thinking about other things,  music, dancing and reading seemed to be their main interest and their friends. Because girls mature faster than boys it really is best to buy an area rug that is a little more mature.

If you have laminate or wood flooring in your childrens bedroom you really have to add a kids area rug to add texture and more color to the floor. The problem is normally buying a bedroom rug that your child will like for at least a year. Finish off decorating your child's room with a colorful nursery room rug.  When buying choose a fabric that is soft and not a type you can pull up little tufts of fluff. For boys under the age of 10

Boys on the other hand like to play more on the floor with their friends or by themselves. Educational themed rugs I found were a good choice for both girls and boys at a young age. When decorating a child's room keep in mind that even though you are buying a childrens rug it still needs to fit in with your other decor around the home. All colors should coordinate from room to room.

Personal Note about choosing a childrens area rug.

I have 5 children girls and one boy. Over time I have noticed certain trends that happen just about at the same age for every child. Girls like a more decorative rug.  I bought a fairly expensive Barbie rug for one of my daughters and she grew tired of it after six months, it gets passed around my other sisters now. Boys like area rugs that are themed towards their interests.
