Girls, children under 12 and older children, normally think of an area rug as an accent for their room. Most activities are done sitting on the bed. I have 5 children girls and one boy. Over time I have noticed certain trends that happen just about at the same age for every child. Girls like a more decorative rug.  I bought a fairly expensive Barbie rug for one of my daughters and she grew tired of it after six months, it gets passed around my other sisters now.
