Tab top window curtains an idea for your home 

Before you start to decorate your new windows with some sort of window treatment have a look at all the that are out there. The style of your curtains or blinds will decide the entire look of your room.

Try to stand back and look at what type of furniture you have in your room. For instance if you have a lot of small tables, or many sharp angles coming from shelves and furniture a mini window blind might be what you need to add to the window with side panel curtains tucked to the side to show off the color.

The opposite of course is true with large furniture, the best window shade might be a larger blind or a faux wood blind.

If you have nice wood molding around the windows and a wood sill, wood blinds would be in order plus you don't want to cover up the beauty of these with shears or full curtains.

A perfect match would be tab top curtains with a decorative rod or finials. If you like the fused light that shears allow in but are worried about the hot noon sun, add a roller shade inside the window that you can pull down when it gets too hot or to darken the room.

For when you don't want to cover up a beautiful view, you can just add a boxed in valance at the top using fabric over a wood frame. Another great idea instead of curtains in the living room or dining room are indoor shutters.

Basically they are like wood blinds except you can swing them back which makes them a unique window or wall treatment. For kitchen windows a simple swag works well with tie back curtains on the side.

Bedrooms usually call for room darkening shades with curtains hung on rings from some sort of curtain rod which can be as simple as a large piece of 1 1/2 or 2 inch doweling. These curtains are simple to make and rather inexpensive.
