Wood Rocking Chairs
There is one furniture piece that every home needs to have in one room or another and that is a rocking chair. These classic wooden chairs are timeless and never go out of fashion or style, the same styles that were produced a hundred years ago are still being made today.
There are three rooms that have always been popular to have a rocking chair in and they are the family room, den and probably the most popular, the nursery.
Some people though have trouble deciding on whether they want a rocker or a glider. The principals are the same, it's all about motion, a glider slides on the flat, where a rocker, rocks on a curve. I find these equally comfortable but prefer the rocking motion of the chair to be more natural. Glider chairs normally are padded or upholstered, where wooden rocking chairs need to be padded if you want something softer to sit on.
Beyond a doubt the most popular rocker chair today is the Carolina cottage wooden rocker, with oak and cherry being the preferred wood. Prices range from 150 dollars to 205.00 dollars. The two styles are sutton and the windsor rocker, the difference between the two is the windsor has a curved back frame and the sutton rocker has more of a straight top.
We have chosen two popular furniture manufacturers: International concepts and Carolina Chair & Table. All are 100% wood and come in various light and dark stains.
Pictures of both can be seen below:

This is the style I have for my nursery, I find it to be the most comfortable because of the way the back supports are. Also I found the arm rests to be a perfect height to rest my arm on when nursing.
